Cupping therapy is a type of negative pressure massage where suction is applied to the surface of the body. Cupping helps to stimulate the lungs, increase diaphragmatic function to deepen breathing and improve local blood circulation.  Cupping marks are from the negative pressure eﬀect of the cups. They are not painful whatsoever, and no blood vessels are injured.
When the blood is blood drawn to the surface of the body, old and stale blood becomes more readily available to be cleaned by the lymphatic system. In this way, cupping has a detoxifying eﬀect on the system.

Massage Therapy with Cupping

This treatment is a combination of traditional massage and Neurofunctional Acupuncture. Electrical Stimulation may or may not be used within this treatment. Duration of Massage vs. Acupuncture during treatment varies from person to person and treatment to treatment. Your RMT will be able to better answer this at the time of treatment.

Neurofunctional Acupuncture is a contemporary method that targets the nervous system to restore balance to nerves, muscles and joints. Neurofunctional Acupuncture is a stimulation of the peripheral nervous system, central nervous system and supraspinal modulation using acupuncture and electric stimulation for therapeutic purposes. These treatments are performed to induce analgesia in muscles and joints by: stimulating an increase of blood flow, and activation of endogenous pain inhibitory systems. Simply put this treatment has the potential to break the pain pathway and reduce pain associated with irritation of various nerves, correct muscle imbalances/dysfunction, and decrease inflammation of local tissue structures

Massage Therapy with Acupuncture

This is a specialized treatment with the Neurofunctional model at the forefront of treatment, still working within the scope of massage therapy. Within this treatment, you can expect Acupuncture, electrical stimulation, soft tissue work, and neurofunctional testing. - each treatment is customized to each client.

Pregnancy Massage

The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is what connects the mandible (lower jaw) to the skull, just under the ears. The muscles of the TMJ control chewing. Dysfunction or malalignment can affect the neck, shoulders, face, and teeth.

Signs you may have TMJ dysfunction
• muscular pain when chewing, swallowing, or speaking
• restricted movement, such as limitations when opening the mouth
• clicking, popping, and cracking of the jaw
• dental issues such as misaligned teeth
• pain in the neck, scalp, and shoulders
• frequent headaches
• pain and tenderness at the joint
• pain, ringing, or itchiness in the ears
• dizziness

Your assessment will include a full health history, assessment of the TMJ and surrounding areas, and possible treatment if time allows.

If your last treatment was more than 6 months ago, please book in for another assessment as things can drastically change with time and no treatment.
