Brantford Therapeutic Massage offers several types of therapeutic massages that are designed to address your varying health concerns. Our registered massage therapists (RMTs) will work hard and to your specifications to help improve the body’s circulation, increase blood flow, improve immune system functioning, stimulate the nervous system and reduce body pain.

Massage Therapy

Cupping therapy is a type of negative pressure massage where suction is applied to the surface of the body. Cupping helps to stimulate the lungs, increase diaphragmatic function to deepen breathing and improve local blood circulation.  Cupping marks are from the negative pressure eﬀect of the cups. They are not painful whatsoever, and no blood vessels are injured.
When the blood is blood drawn to the surface of the body, old and stale blood becomes more readily available to be cleaned by the lymphatic system. In this way, cupping has a detoxifying eﬀect on the system.

Massage Therapy with Cupping

Neurofunctional Acupuncture is a form of acupuncture that targets the peripheral and central nervous system. Solid needles are used to manually or with the aid of electrical stimulation, to stimulate the nervous system to promote change via the nerves that innervate the muscles and targeted soft tissues.
This treatment is combination of acupuncture and massage therapy to give you the maximum effectiveness from your treatment.
Please note: If using extended health benefits, this treatment can be billed using your Massage Therapy benefits.

Massage Therapy with Acupuncture

Acupuncture only (no massage therapy)

Please bring loose shorts and t-shit/tank top/sports bra depending on the areas that may be treated. Traditional draping with sheets may be used while treating or treatment in your gym outfit. Please note that this is not a traditional massage treatment, during the treatment a neurofunctional assessment will be performed.

Pregnancy Massage

The TMJ (temporomandibular joint) is what connects the mandible (lower jaw) to the skull, just under the ears. The muscles of the TMJ control chewing. Dysfunction or malalignment can affect the neck, shoulders, face, and teeth.

Signs you may have TMJ dysfunction
• muscular pain when chewing, swallowing, or speaking
• restricted movement, such as limitations when opening the mouth
• clicking, popping, and cracking of the jaw
• dental issues such as misaligned teeth
• pain in the neck, scalp, and shoulders
• frequent headaches
• pain and tenderness at the joint
• pain, ringing, or itchiness in the ears
• dizziness

Your assessment will include a full health history, assessment of the TMJ and surrounding areas, and possible treatment if time allows.

If your last treatment was more than 6 months ago, please book in for another assessment as things can drastically change with time and no treatment.
